Parents' guide to the Elementary Program

What is my child working on in the Elementary classroom?

What the Montessori Primary program begins, the Montessori Elementary Program continues.  However, even if your child attended a Montessori Primary Program, you may be unprepared for the differences between a traditional elementary classroom and a Montessori elementary classroom.  If terms such as "cosmic education" baffle you, or you want to know how fractions are taught in the Montessori classroom, you've come to the right place.

As in the primary program, children are able to work according to their individual level of interest and ability.  Children also experience an integrated curriculum, where the study of language and writing naturally include historical context.

Check out the links to various works found in the elementary program.  These brief explanations are provided to you so that you are able to talk with your child about the work that they are doing in the classroom.  If you can't find what you are looking for, or have specific questions about your child's progress, please contact Magnolia Room Directress Carrie Wisser at magnolia@cmsindiana.org.
